"The best breakfast food in town by far,” says
Denton. His restaurant peers echo that sentiment.
“Great, quality
selection,” says Phil Gattey, Jr., of
Bernie’s Barbecue. “A model for future
breakfast places,” confirms Justin Cook of Kanpai.
The eggs Benedict dishes are so perfect that it’s
not uncommon for a surreptitious finger to scoop up the
last bit of Hollandaise sauce. The ambience is homey and
comfortable. The Bloody Marys are worth getting out of
bed for. And there are exceptional vegetarian offerings
for non-meat-eaters. Executive chef/owner John Nolan
personifies the tradition of owners whose personalities
help drive the success of their establishments.
“John Nolan and his staff are always pushing the
envelope, and I love that,” says McMichael.
“I think people go to see John as much as they go
for the food. He is one of the funniest people I have
ever met—a true restaurant guy.”
